Informations for Patient

Psoriasis vulgaris (psoriasis) represents a frequent and almost always chronically progressing dermatological disease.

The typical psoriasis patient is suffering from skin irritation with accompanying skin flush and redness, as well as open wound sites. The frequent occurrence of strong itching is especially impairing. The psoriasis is difficult to treat because a genetic defect causes the disease.
For the relief of psoriasis different forms of therapy and agents are used. The most common forms of treatment are immunologically acting drugs (biologicals) as well as externally applied ointments and creams that contain active pharmaceutical ingredients.
Biologicals function by manipulating or completely turning off the human natural immune system. So this therapy means a very heavy impact to the natural defense system. The adverse effects are so large that the common side effects include serious infections.
One product, Raptiva, had to be withdrawn for approval due to proven mentioned deaths by the regulatory authorities.
In about 70 percent of cases an external treatment with topical and systemic preparations of affected skin occurs. The systemic preparations may be used only under a doctor's control / prescription and for a limited duration, because of severe side effects after an extended time of application that are not medically justifiable. This primarily includes the commonly prescribed cortisone by the attending physician, leading to skin thinning and irreversible damage. After discontinuation of the creams / ointments the complaints return after a time delay and a further application must be re-prescribed by the attending physician. Treatment with cortisone products is therefore not suitable for a long term therapy.

The other common pharmacological agents to treat psoriasis show similar side effects that complicate long-term therapy.
In addition to treatment, patients use individual skin care products to maintain the skin and keep it smooth. These additional costs for individual care products are very different, and represent a high financial burden Alnovat differs from the skin creams and ointments currently available in the respect that the cream contains only pure natural plant oils. The cream contains no pharmacological agents. For this reason, the above-mentioned side effects of pharmacological agents are avoided. The unique composition of Alnovat can thus be applied without time limit.

Alnovat has excellent nourishing properties. The high compatibility during long-term use enables the patient to pass on additional skin care products, whereby additional costs for accompanying care products can be omitted.
